Mrs. McGreger's
Three Dimensional
Storytelling™

"Promoting Literacy One
Story at a Time"
I never expected to be a
storyteller! When I was little I wanted to be a cowboy, then a doctor, then a
rancher, then an artist, then a writer and then one fine day I met Mimo. Believe
it or not Mimo is a clown
and my
best friend! I told my new friend Mimo about some of my favorite
children's stories. I also told her how I loved to make up my own endings to
stores and create pictures of the story in my mind. As we were talking, I told
her the story of Peter Rabbit. The story I told ended quite differently than the
one I had heard as a child!
Then I made three dimensional story props I could
interact with as I told Mimo the story. We shared that storyboard with some young friends and the
"3D" stories were born. The children were enthralled with the
storyboard and were fully engaged in the storytelling process.

The next thing I knew the stories and storyboards were all
over my farmhouse. I suddenly realized just how much fun it is to tell a story with children
instead of to children. Our stories are now carefully designed and told in a
manner that ensures our little friends will be very much involved. They are
given parts to speak, sounds to make and gestures to incorporate into the
storytelling process. All the while, the storyboard is being built right before
their eyes, keeping pace with the story being told.
Last Christmas was a
wonderful time of sharing as we created the story of the woodland creatures
Christmas Tree. The children were literally captivated as we told the story.
Together we
built the scenes, created a Christmas tree and had the tree suddenly light up.
You could feel the magic every time we told the story. Children of all ages
enjoy this fun-filled method of storytelling. The most exciting aspect of this
type of storytelling is that we are free to tailor stories for your unique
needs. We look forward to sharing with you.
I just love fun hats. My friends at Mrs.
McGreger's Garden know my love whimsical hats and they often surprise me with
them. I have a Harvest Hat, a Storytelling Hat, a Painting Hat,
a Smiley Face Hat,
a Puppy Dog Hat, a
Christmas Hat, and a Tea Hat with Easter Eggs and Bunnies on it. I never know
what my rascally little animal friends are going to think of next.
I even
have my storytelling pal "Mimo" wearing some of these works of art.
You should see the bunnies wiggling and giggling when we put on our hats and
head off to share a story with our friends. They are so proud.
